Early Childhood Education

The Youngest Learners at Norman Public Schools

Full-day Pre-K programs are offered at every site in Norman Public Schools. Half-day programs are also available and are a great option for parents looking for a flexible schedule or for those not seeking a full-day program. Classes are taught by certified early childhood teachers and a teacher assistant with a maximum class size of 20 students. Transportation is not provided for Pre-K students.

All Norman Public Schools elementary schools also offer full-day Kindergarten programs. Class is held from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Parents may request half-day Kindergarten for their students upon enrollment. Half-day Kindergarten is 7:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Norman Public Schools uses an integrated curriculum, which follows the Oklahoma Academic Standards. Adopted materials include Savvas MyView, TCI Social Studies, Everyday Math, and STC Elementary Science. Each developmentally appropriate Kindergarten classroom fosters growth in the areas of intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and language development.

Parents are urged to enroll their students in Kindergarten at their neighborhood school. To enroll, parents must bring two (2) proofs of residency, an official birth certificate, and a current immunization record of their child. Parents who have already enrolled their students in Kindergarten must confirm the student's enrollment in July at their school office.
