NPS CFO Brenda O'Brian Wins Lifetime Achievement Award, Retires After Decades of Service
NORMAN, OK (June 20, 2024) — Norman Public Schools (NPS) is proud to announce that Chief Financial Officer Brenda O'Brian has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA). The award recognizes O'Brian's exceptional 33-year career in education finance and operations.
"Brenda is the heart and soul of our district," said Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino. "Her passion for public education, advocacy for students and teachers, and unparalleled fiscal leadership have made an immeasurable impact. She is extraordinarily deserving of this lifetime achievement honor."
O'Brian's dedication to fiscal responsibility and securing resources for Norman schools is highlighted by overseeing the budget for more than $1.1 billion in bond projects and upholding an outstanding bond rating for the district over her tenure as CFO.
In addition to her accomplished career at NPS, O'Brian has served in numerous statewide and national leadership roles, including as International President of the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) and President of the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials (OkASBO).
O'Brian will be retiring from the district at the end of June after more than three decades of service to Oklahoma students.
"Brenda's contributions to our school community will have a lasting legacy," said Dr. Migliorino. "She has been a guiding force in shaping school finance policies and ensuring adequate resources for our teachers and students. We are forever grateful for her leadership."
After O’Brian’s retirement, Tyler Jones will be the district’s new CFO.
