NORMAN, OK (May 13, 2024) — Norman Public Schools teacher Mary Daley has been named a state finalist for the prestigious Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is the highest recognition in the nation a K-12 mathematics or science educator can receive for outstanding teaching.
Daley teaches second grade at Washington Elementary School. She has been teaching for six years, all at Washington.
"Ms. Daley is a committed educator who fosters the excitement of math and science in our young learners with dynamic, hands-on lessons," stated Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino. “She represents the exceptional talent of teachers in our district, and we are so proud of her.”
Daley is one of three finalists in Oklahoma. The finalists were chosen by a local selection committee of educators and past awardees. Each finalist demonstrated a mastery of math or science instruction and effective use of student assessments to improve student learning.
