NORMAN, OK (May 23, 2024) — Norman Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino voted today to send the University North Park Entertainment District tax increment finance (TIF) project to the Norman City Council for its consideration. Dr. Migliorino serves as an appointed representative of the Statutory Review Committee which includes other community stakeholders.
Dr. Migliorino released this statement after the unanimous vote:
“My role on this committee was to ensure the interest of our schools and students were taken into account throughout the review process. My vote today does not indicate support by the Norman Public Schools Board of Education because they have not taken a formal action on this topic. Voting ‘yes’ means the Norman City Council will now consider the issue of the TIF, and while I cannot predict the outcome of the City Council’s deliberations, they are now equipped to thoroughly evaluate the potential impacts to our school district.”
