Norman, OK – Norman Public Schools (NPS) is proud to announce the launch of a new, affordable childcare program for its employees, set to open in August 2025. This program will offer high-quality early childhood education for children of active NPS employees who are expecting a child or have a child younger than four years old on or before September 1, 2025.
The NPS Employee Childcare program aims to provide an enriching, hands-on, and inquiry-based curriculum tailored to the needs of each child, with a strong focus on protecting childhood while fostering autonomy, creativity, and lifelong learning. Children will benefit from a safe, supportive environment that promotes positive early childhood experiences, laying a foundation for success during the critical window of brain development.
“We are excited to offer this new childcare program for our NPS staff,” said Ann Rosales, Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning for Norman Public Schools. “This initiative reflects our commitment to supporting our employees and their families, providing them with an affordable and high-quality childcare option that fosters growth and development for our youngest learners. We believe this program will create a positive and nurturing environment that helps families thrive both at home and at work.”
The program will be led by Becca Waggoner, M.Ed, who serves as the Site Director. Becca, a passionate advocate for early childhood education, has extensive experience, including her role as the Director at the Institute of Child Development at OU for over a decade. Joining Becca is Shelby Weddle, M.Ed, Site Assistant Director, who brings valuable experience from both NPS and the private sector. Shelby's focus on nurturing relationships and fostering a positive climate will be key in supporting families in the early years.
NPS Childcare will operate as a fully licensed DHS facility, adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines.
