NORMAN, OKLA. – Norman Public Schools celebrated its outstanding educators and staff members at the annual Celebration of Excellence, held on April 11, 2025, at the Embassy Suites in Norman. This year’s event, themed “Denim & Diamonds,” brought together district leaders, educators, community members, and supporters for an evening of recognition, gratitude, and celebration.
Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino welcomed guests, expressing deep appreciation for the vital role educators play in the lives of students.
“You are the true gems of Norman Public Schools,” said Dr. Migliorino. “Your dedication, passion, and resilience make a lasting impact on our students and our community.”
Throughout the evening, the district honored excellence across various roles and stages of careers. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the 2025 District Teacher of the Year, awarded to Dr. Bryan Frenette from Norman High School, who was recognized for exceptional instructional leadership, classroom excellence, and commitment to student success.

Rookie Teacher of the Year, sponsored by BancFirst: Molly McAmis, Norman North
Lois K. Annesley Support Employee of the Year, sponsored by Oklahoma Electric Cooperative: Cathy Brawner, Transportation Services
Special Education Teacher of the Year, sponsored by Scott Martin and Family: Stephanie Peters, Jackson Elementary
Principal of the Year, sponsored by Oklahoma Educators Credit Union: Dr. Catherine Miller, Jefferson Elementary
Public Education Ambassador Award, presented to The Norman Public School Foundation for their continued dedication and support of the district.
This year’s Celebration of Excellence also recognized the district’s retirees with the Legends of Education award, honored Site Teachers of the Year, and included drawings for themed prizes such as boots from Boot Barn, jewelry from Park Lane and Cayman’s, and tickets to the 2026 International Finals Rodeo.
The evening was made possible through the generous support of many community partners, sponsors, and numerous local organizations who provided gifts and recognition for this year’s award recipients.
“Tonight is about celebrating the good things in public education,” said Dr. Migliorino. “These educators and staff members are the heart of our schools, and their work deserves to be recognized and celebrated.”
